V. G. Siddhartha- Cafe Coffee day
V. G. Siddhartha is a well-known businessman from Karnataka. He is best known as the founder-owner of the famous Cafe Coffee Day chain outlets. After finishing his masters he joined morgan stanley in mumbai as a management trainee. Later he went on to establish a successful cofee business in CHickmagalur,karnataka. His company ABC (Amalgamated Bean Company) has an annual turn-over of around 25 billion. He started Café Coffee Day, a chain of youth hangout coffee parlors in the year 1996 (Six outlets in six cities in the first five years). Café Coffee Day has become India’s largest and premier retail chain of cafes with 1,438 cafes in 135 cities. He also hopes to win the contract to start the chain to all the airports of Karnataka and then rest of India. Cafe Coffee day outlets in india attract at least 40,000 to 50,000 visitors a week.
He also holds board seats in GTV, Mindtree, Liqwid Krystal, Way2Wealth and Ittiam. GTV has now set up a global technology village on a 59-acre technology incubator park in Bangalore, It provides office space, communication links, recreational facilities and even a commercial centre. GTV is valued at $100 million last year, and is expected to have doubled its valuation this year. He also founded Global Technology Ventures Ltd in the year 2000. He also owns a furniture company called The Dark Forest Furniture Company.
He was awarded the entrepreneur of the year in 2003 by “The Economic Times”.
