Tomato Chutney
- Tomato (chopped) : 400 gms (4 medium)
- Urad daal : 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram : 3 tbsp
- Asafoetida : 1/4 tsp
- Red kashmiri chilies : 5 nos
- Curry leaves : 10 nos
- Tamarind (dried) : 1tsp
- Turmeric : 1/3 tsp
- Cooking oil : 2 tsp
- Salt (to taste)
Tempering:
- Cooking oil : 1 tsp
- Whole red chilies : 2 nos
- Curry leaves: 6 nos
- Mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
Method :
- Wash and chop tomatoes into small pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan and add Bengal gram, white lentil to this.
- Saute on low heat till they become golden colour.
- Add dried red chillies and curry leaves and sauté till chilli gets a nice colour.
- Add asafoetida, turmeric, chopped tomatoes and salt for taste.
- Cook on medium flame till tomatoes become soft.
- Remove the mixture in a bowl and let it cool down completely.
- Add tomato mixture and tamarind in Mixie, Grind the mixture to make a smooth paste. Take out the chutney in a bowl.
- Heat little oil in a small pan and add mustard seeds.
- When seeds start crackling add whole red chillies few curry leaves.
- Add chutney.
- Mix and serve with dosa and idliis.
