Send messages with goTenna!
Now you can send messages even if there is no connectivity. There is a new device called gotenna. goTenna is a handheld receiver that enables you to communicate without any need for central connectivity. Using Bluetooth-LE,you have to Pair your smartphone to your goTenna device wirelessly. Then with the help of gotenna’s free app type out a text or else you can share your location. Messages will then be send to the other receiver, but you cannot send image or voice or video calls. As the device relies on MURS frequencies, communication with the other user will only be possible if the recepient is within the 50 miles range. In fact, goTenna will even work if your smartphone is in Airplane Mode. The Gotenna works on MURS frequencies between 151-154 Mhz. The most important thing is that goTenna is greatly dependent on your geographical location, especially your terrain and elevation. The main features of gotenna are : you can send & receive text messages for free, Automatic message retry & delivery confirmation, share your location on detailed offline map. You can send indvidual and group messages. It comes with an antena with a 2 watt radio, rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, Micro-USB connector, BluetoothLE data interface, Status indicator lights etc. The device is water resistant.
