Sarvajna- Poet
Sarvajna was a kannada poet,philosopher of great repute. His name means “all-knowing”. He was also know as the common man’s poet. According to the historians and the references of later writers, It is estimated that he may have lived during the first half of the 16th century. Some references also indicate that his real name was Pushpadatta. Sarvajna tried to persuade villagers to give up superstition, meaningless tradition and customs.
He grew up as a wandering monk creating the Tripadis, He led an austere life, His triplets was known as vachana, The famous three liners. About 2000 three-liners are attributed to Sarvajna. These were famous for their simplicity and structure. It was mainly about the ethical, social and religious issues. As a self-taught person, his extraordinary knowledge was due to constant travel, He was very observing and his watchful eyes and ears had extraordinary ability to imbibe and express what he experienced briefly.
