Natural Remedies for skin tan
Suntan means brownish colouring of the skin caused by the formation of the pigment melanin within the skin on exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun and often referred to as tan.Suntan happens when skin color is darkened or tanned. It happens often a result of exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun or from artificial sources. Many people brush it aside thinking that it will wear off on its own but the truth is, it can make your skin look dull and not doing any precautionary measures can lead to further tanning due to other external factors such as pollution, dust, etc.
Here are a few natural remedies to get rid of a suntan.
- Lemon juice
Lemon is easily available throughout the year and can be very handy when you have to remove tan from your face or any other body part. Lemon is a great remedy for curing sun tanned skin due to its natural bleaching properties. You can simply apply some fresh lemon juice on the affected skin area and allow it to dry before washing the area with water. You can also add some sugar to lemon juice and apply it on the skin. Sugar is an excellent cleansing agent. Do this twice or thrice a week for better results.
You can simple apply the juice of a lemon on the affected part or even add other ingredients to it to make a de-tan pack. Mix honey and lemon juice together to make a pack and then apply it on your skin. Leave the mixture for 15 minutes and then wash it off with water. Glycerine is another ingredient which you can mix with lemon juice. It is quite effective and gives your skin a good glow instantly.
potato is an important food staple,Potatoes are available year-round.Potato has natural bleaching properties which can help lighten the tan a great deal.For mild tanned skin, rub peeled potato skin on the affected area or raw potato juice for fast relief.To make a face pack, peel the skin of a potato and then grate it. Now add some rose water to it. You can also add a few drops of honey if your skin is dry. Apply it on your face for at least 15 minutes and then wash away with water.
- Aloe vera
Aloe vera is a good remedy for Acne, eczema, and skin irritation.Apply aloe vera gel 2-3 times a day to the affected area until it is healed.It also contains cooling properties similar to menthol which makes it a great way to sooth sunburns. It acts as a protective layer on the skin and helps replenish its moisture. When the skin is hydrated, then it recover faster from sunburn.You can use its juice or gel which are easily available in the market these days. Mix a tablespoon of multani mitti and a pinch of haldi in it. Add some rose water if you use the gel to dilute the pack. Now apply the pack on your face and neck and leave it to dry. After that you can wash your face with water and pat dry the skin.
- Gram flour or besan
Gram flour is very effective in treating sun tan. Besan and haldi is good to get rid of summer tan. Take some besan and add milk and haldi to it. Make sure the paste isn’t too watery. Apply it on your face and even your hands and legs if they are tanned before you go for a bath. Let it dry and then take a shower with lukewarm water and then Towel-dry the skin gently.Mix gram flour in water and run it all over the sun tan affected area. Wait for twenty minutes before washing your skin with normal water. For better results, you can use rose water instead of plain water.
- Cucumber juice
The cucumber juice and rose water acts as cooling agents for soothing the blemished skin. Apply a mixture of cucumber juice, rose water and a dash of lemon juice. You can add a spoonful of curd if you have dry skin to make a moisturising pack. Wash it after 15 minutes of application.Take a table spoon each of cucumber juice, lemon juice and rose water and mix in a bowl. Apply with cotton on tanned areas, wait for 10 minutes and wash off with cold water. Apply this pack every day after you get back home from outside.
