Mudgal Fort
Mudgal is located in Raichur district, Karnataka. The main attractions are the remnants of the fort and an ancient catholic church and other ancient temples of Aswathhanarayana, Venkatesha, Narasimha and Didderayah. The place is known for its historical heritage and communal harmony and has several inscriptions belonging to seuna yadavas of devagiri. Way back in the 11th century Mudgal was an educational centre for the students from various parts of the country. The fort was an important outpost of Kakatiya Kingdom during the 14th century. After the establishment of the Bahamani Dynasty, Bijapur kings took possession of the southern and western parts of the territory.
Mudgal is well connected by road to Bangalore, Hubli, Hyderabad, Bagalkot and other major cities. The nearest major airport is in Hyderabad. KSRTC runs a bus service to other cities and villages. Raichur and hospet is the nearest railway station and is well connected by trains to all major parts of India.
