Mekedatu is located in in Kanakapura Taluk in karnataka along River Kaveri. It is a wonderful weekend getaway tourist spot which is around 90 kms from bangalore. The place where river sangama merges with kaveri is about 4 kilometers downstream. The river Kaveri runs through a deep and narrow ravine of hard granite rock. The river, which is 150 meters broad at the confluence flows in the only 10-meter-wide gorge. The rocks here are slippery and the climb down is very steep, The 4 feet shallow water is very deceiving and visitors are advised to be cautious. The water current is very fast, and a person can drown in minutes.
