Makkan Peda
Ingredients :
- Maida : 1 cup (Heaped) : 1 cup
- Sugarless Khowa : 150 grams
- Fresh White Butter or Vanaspathi : 1 tbsp
- Cooking Soda : a pinch
- Fresh thick Curd : 1 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
- For Stuffing : Blanched sliced almonds : 1 tbsp
- Chopped Cashews : 1 tbsp
- Melon Seeds : 1 tbsp
- Chironji nuts : 1 tbsp
- For Sugar syrup : Sugar 1 ½ cups
- Water : 1 cup
Method :
Rub Soda with butter till it becomes frothy.Mix it along with sieved maida with finger tips till mixture resembles bread crumbs.Add crumbled Khova and curds to this and knead to a smooth dough.If necessary,Sprinkle little milk while kneading.Keep closed for 5 minutes.Mix all the ingredients for stuffing together.prepare sugar syrup of sticking consistency.Prepare balls from the dough bigger than gulab jamoons.from each ball like a cup and keep little stuffing inside.Close the ball properly and seal the stuffing.Flatten lightly and deep fry in moderately hot oil or ghee till dark brown.Soak it in sugar syrup.Allow the pedas to soak in the syrup for few hours before serving.
