Kundadri is located in Shimoga, in the western ghats, Karnataka. The place is about 70 kms from udupi city and is known for its 17th century Jain temple dedicated to Thirthankara. The temple is constructed with stone statues of jain sages. It is believed that a jain sage named Kundakunda Acharya stayed here and thus the birth of this jain holy place. Rising 3,200 feet above sea level, the Kundadri hill is a cool destination that’s an ideal spot to visit during summers. Covered in lush greenery forests, this hill is a holy pilgrimage place for Jains and also a favourite place for trekking and climbing, for adventure enthusiasts.
How to reach :
Kundadri is 80 kms from Shimoga and about 20 kms from Thirthahalli town. The best route is via Thirthahalli road (NH 13),then take state highway (Agumbe Road) to guddekeri and take left deviation. The distance from bangalore to Kundadri is 332 Kms. From mangalore you can take the NH 13 route to reach Thirthahalli, and the total distance is around 146 Kms. Other are numerous buses connecting udupi to Thirthahalli and the nearest railway station is Shimoga. The nearest airport is Mangalore International Airport.
