Health benefits of Grapes
Grapes are popularly known as the Queen of Fruits and it comes in three variants based on their colour : Red, Green and Black/Blue. Although Grapes are very small and tiny in size, they contain numerous nutrients, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins which keeps us healthy, fit and fine. Resveratrol content in grapes helps in reducing the levels of amyloidal-beta peptides in patients who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. In numerous studies, resveratrol has been found to have a positive effect on cancer. Grapes are also good in enhancing the health of the brain. Pterostilbene is a compound which is present in grapes and it helps in lowering cholesterol levels. Resveratrol also protects the skin from damaging UVB rays of the sun, thereby protecting it against skin cancer. Grapes are also rich source of micronutrient minerals like manganese, copper and iron. Iron is especially concentrated more in raisins ,Copper and manganese are an essential co-factor of antioxidant enzyme. Grapes are also a good source of carotenes,vitamin-C, vitamin A, vitamin K, B-complex vitamins such as ,thiamin ,riboflavin and pyridoxine. The compound Catechins found in the white and green variety of grapes have also shown to possess health-protective benefits.
The antioxidants present in grapes, along with vitamin C, protects the skin from harmful effects of free radicals, Free radicals are the main cause of premature ageing which is characterized by the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the skin and reverse the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. Rubbing the pulp of a few seedless grapes on the face in a circular motion and rinsing it after 20 minutes will help in reducing the formation of wrinkles. Nowadays many people face a myriad of hair problems ranging from dandruff, split ends and premature greying to loss of hair, the root cause is because of unhealthy lifestyle and exposure to pollution. Consumption of grapes is good for hair, it contains natural antioxidants which increase blood circulation in the scalp this encourages hair growth.
