Baba Budangiri
Baba Budangiri is a mountain range in the western Ghats, It is located in chikkmagaluru district of Karnataka. The place is known for the Sufi saint Baba Budan, a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Muslims. The mountain range is also known as the dattagiri mountain range. The main peaks are mullyanagiri (1930 m) and dattagiri (1895 m),these peaks are also known as the Chandradrona mountain range because of its resemblance to the shape of crescent moon. Mullyanagiri is the highest peak with a height of 1930 m.
Other attractions includes three caves which is said to have sanctified by three siddhas and contains their icons and tombs, every year an annual fair is held in their honour. There are three water falls namely Gada Theertha, Nallikayi Theertha and Kamana Theertha.Manikyadhara Falls is also near Kemmangundi.It is one of the main attractions of Baba Budan Giri.Unique mountain flowers called kurinji blooms in these hill ranges once every 12 years. The last time this spectacle happened was in the year 2006.
Dattagiri Hills or Baba Budangiri Range is a range of mountains in the Western Ghats of Karnataka, India. The range, originally known as Chandra Drona Parvatha, takes its current name from the Dattapeeta Cave and 17th century Sufi saint Baba Budan. The Dattagiri or Baba Budan Giri Range includes the highest peaks of Karnataka. Baba Budangiri is 25 km north of Chikkmagaluru town and over 250 km from Bangalore.
