Agumbe is a small beautiful village located in Shimoga district,Karnataka. It is also known as “The Cherrapunji of the South”. the village covers an area of 3 square kilometres Agumbe is a name associated with documentation of medicinal plants, tourism, power generation and cottage industry.
The population is approximately 500 people, Agumbe lies to the Western coastal region of South India, it is situated around 300 km west-northwest of Bangalore, as part of the Western Ghats mountain range, Agumbe lies in an UNESCO World Heritage Site, Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kudremukh National Park is near to Agumbe. The sunset scene from Agumbe is a marvelous scenery and is a popular draw with most tourists, especially between the months of November and January.
